Detailed Itinerary
You will be welcomed by the driver guide from representing Gentle Giants Safaris on arrival at Entebbe International Airport. You will then go through the itinerary and thereafter drive off to the Hotel for relaxation after a long flight. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel.
After breakfast at your lodge, you will get on to the road and head to Kibale National Park. This 5–6-hour journey will drive through Fort-portal enjoying the beautiful rolling hills of the countryside. You will arrive later in the afternoon and check in at the lodge, relax that evening on a campfire for dinner, and spend the night in the park.
Breakfast will be served early and then head to the Kanyanchu Park office for briefing with the rest of the tourists together. You will then head to the forest in search of the habituated chimpanzees, after a long trek into the forest, you will meet the chimpanzee group and spend one full hour with them. The chimps display their natural behavior and this is normally the highlight of the day. Return to the starting point for lunch and launch a nature walk to Bigodi swamp for a 3-4 hour guided tour to explore the rare plant species, Bush pigs, various monkey species and butterflies. Retire at the lodge later, have dinner and overnight.
After breakfast at the lodge, you will embark on a journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park which is Uganda’s second-largest park after Murchison Falls National Park. The park is home to Lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, topis, spotted hyenas, and Uganda kobs among others. You will arrive in the afternoon, have lunch, and head out for an evening game drive to have an encounter with your favorite wildlife. Relax later at the lodge, have dinner, and overnight.
After an early breakfast, you will have a morning game drive through the park to spot lions and the big five in the early hours as they try to catch a meal for the day. Launch a boat cruise at the famous Kazinga channel in the afternoon and get to watch the large hippos as they swim on the channel connecting Lake George and Edward. Several bird species and other wild animals are seen at the riverbanks feeding and drinking on the water. Retire later at the lodge to ponder on the days experience on a cup of coffee. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
After breakfast on this day, you will have an enroute game drive through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park to catch up with the tree-climbing lions. These lions are seen resting on big tree branches either resting or trying to spot prey before they can attack. Our guide will ensure to have the best spots for a better view of the king of the jungle as the team up to hunt prey (on a lucky day). Proceed to Bwindi through Kanungu district and soon arrive at your lodge.
After breakfast at the lodge, you will drive to the starting point to meet other tourists. Here you will be briefed on the rules for Gorilla trekking and be divided in groups of eight people. You will then be allocated a gorilla group to track and the ranger guides to take you through the day’s experience. Hit the jungle and start the journey hiking through the thick forest in search for the mountain Gorillas and soon or later after meeting the Gorillas, you will spend one hour with them learning about their behavior in their natural habitat. Return to the starting point after this amazing experience and meet your guide and drive off to kisoro for dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Breakfast will be served early at the lodge, and drive off to Mgahinga Gorilla Park where the silver meets the Gold. You will arrive very early in the morning and head to the briefing point to be guided on the Golden Monkey trekking experience. The tracking soon begins guided by the park rangers until you meet the tiny monkeys with golden fur. These endangered monkeys are only found in the Virunga mountains and their name comes from the color of their shining golden fur. You may meet a gorilla group on a lucky day but there will be not much attention to them since you will be tracking Golden monkeys. Have lunch after this amazing encounter and head out for a cultural tour to meet the Batwa people and see how they are coping with life after their ancient ways were banned. Return to the lodge that evening for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.
Have breakfast at leisure and set off for Kampala. You will have a stopover at Igongo Cultural Center for lunch and a cultural encounter before proceeding to Kampala.
