Detailed Itinerary
ARRIVAL IN ENTEBBE, UGANDA

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will find our representative waiting for you to help you go through your itinerary and then transfer to your hotel in Entebbe and relax after your journey. Optional activities visit the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre also known as the Entebbe Zoo or take a walk along the shores of Lake Victoria enjoying the fresh breeze.

Drive from Kampala to Bwindi enjoying scenic views along the way, including stopovers for lunch and photos. Proceed to Bwindi through Mbarara and Kabale towns arriving at your lodge inside the park and prepare for gorilla trekking the following day. Dinner and overnight there.

After an early breakfast at the lodge, you will set off driving towards the park offices for briefing on the rules for gorilla tracking. Hit the jungle trekking through the thick undergrowth in search for habituated gorilla groups. The guides will help you follow the path of the Gorillas and depending on factors like the speed of the gorillas’ movement and the tourists, this may take you half a day. On meeting the gorillas, you will be allowed to spend one full hour in their presence learning about their behaviour in their natural habitat and taking photos. Meet your guide at the starting point and return to your lodge for relaxation and dinner.

Depart Bwindi and head to Lake Bunyonyi after an early breakfast. Drive for about 1 hour arriving at Lake Bunyonyi in the early hours of the morning. Check in at the lodge, relax and have your lunch. Enjoy activities like canoeing to explore the several islands and later enjoy swimming in the lake. Dinner and overnight at a lakeside lodge.

After breakfast, you will have a full day excursion engaging in activities like zip-lining, mountain biking, community visits to explore the lives of the local people. All meals and overnight at the lodge.

Depart for Kigali early after breakfast and head out for a 3-4 hours journey to the republic of Rwanda. Arrive in Kigali in time and explore this beautiful city, visiting the Genocide Memorial and local markets. Retire at lodge later in the evening, have dinner and overnight in Kigali city.

Travel to Volcanoes National Park which is approximately 2.5 hours on the Northern side of Rwanda. Visit Ibyiwacu Cultural Village for a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage and if possible, take part in traditional performances like dance and the music. Check in at the lodge and relax on a tasty meal for dinner and spend your night in the park.

Breakfast is served early and then head to the park for briefing with other guests on the rules for Golden Monkey tracking. This experience is a unique one allowing you to meet the tinny monkeys with golden like fur. Volcanoes is also home for the mountain Gorillas and on a lucky day, you may encounter these gentle giants but will not give much attention to them. Enjoy the rich biodiversity of the park. Return to your accommodation for lunch. Optional community visit and drive back to Kigali city.

Depending on your flight schedule, explore more of Kigali city or relax at an open place before your departure.

What to To Think About On This Tour

Gorilla & Chimpanzee tracking is subject to the availability of permits, which are limited to 8 per gorilla group per day and 6 per chimpanzee track per ½ day.

Any Gorilla and Chimpanzee permits required need to be paid for upfront when booking. As soon as funds clear in our account, we will go ahead and purchase.  

Gorilla and Chimpanzee permits are always 100% non-transferable and non-refundable

The RATES are subject to change and are based on Availability with effect from July upon release of the new tariffs from Uganda Wildlife Authority and Rwanda Development Board.

On flights and land-based tours within East Africa, each passenger is limited to a maximum baggage weight of 33 pounds (15 kilograms). This includes the weight of purses and camera equipment in addition to regular luggage. Luggage restrictions are adhered to very strictly and passengers should pack their bags accordingly. Soft-sided luggage or duffels are preferable to hard luggage for storage on safari vehicles and also on aircraft used throughout East Africa. Dimensions should not exceed 23 inches (58 centimetres) long x 13 inches (33 centimetres) high x 10 inches (25 centimetres) wide.
