Detailed Itinerary
ARRIVAL & TRANSFER TO HOTEL

You will be welcomed by our professional guide at the airport on arrival and be briefed on the itinerary before heading to the booked lodge/hotel. Your dinner will be served at the same lodge where you will spend your first night.

Lodge/Hotel: 
Meal plan: Bed & Breakfast

Have an early breakfast and immediately embark on a journey to Murchison Falls National Park, one of Uganda’s largest and oldest parks. This park is home to the big five, birds and is famously known for the Murchison Falls from which the park got its name. you will drive through the countryside towards the park crossing the Nile and arrive later in the afternoon. You will hike to the top of the falls on arrival and this will depend on time of arrival. Retire at the lodge later, have dinner over the campfire and spend the night.

Wake up to a tasty breakfast and proceed to the open savanna of this park in search of your favorite animals in a game viewing experience. Look out for the elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, warthogs, duikers, bushbucks, Kobs, lions, leopards and many bird species as you drive through. Return to the lodge for lunch, and head out for an exciting boat cruise to the bottom of the falls. The boat cruise is a great opportunity to watch the Nile as it forces its way through a 7-meter gorge before exploding to the bottom to make a large stream. You will enjoy watching the Nile crocodiles and hippos as they sunbathe and sometimes catch prey. Drive to the lodge later, have dinner and spend a night.

Have breakfast and drive towards Kibale National Park the primate capital of East Africa. You will have a stopover at tea plantations to have a taste of the locally processed tea and then proceed to Kibale arriving in the evening. Check in at the lodge, relax on a campfire, have dinner and overnight there.

Breakfast will be served early in the morning and head to the park for briefing with other guests on the rules for chimpanzee trekking. The park rangers will soon lead you to the park in search for habituated chimps. You will be allowed to spend one full hour with them as you learn about their unique behavior in their natural habitat. Ensure to follow the guidelines taking pictures and videos and soon after this amazing experience, you will return to the lodge for lunch. Head out for nature walk in Bigodi swamp where you will have a chance to watch some of the unique tree species and primates that you may have missed in the morning trekking. Retire at the lodge for dinner and overnight.

After an early breakfast, you will embark on a journey to  Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park located in the southwestern side of Uganda. The  6-7 hours drive from Kibale Forest to Bwindi Forest will offer you excellent pre-gorilla trekking experiences such as scenic views of the rolling hills, ankole cattle farms, tea farms, banana plantations, and also a chance to interact with local people along the way.  Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

After a tasty breakfast, you will head to the park offices where the rest of the tourists gather for briefing before the actual exercise. The park rangers will then lead you to the park to start the search for habituated gorillas. This experience of trekking through the forest may take any time between hours and a day depending on the movement of the Gorillas. Spend a full hour with the Gorillas after meeting them and thereafter return to the starting point to receive your Gorilla trekking certificate. Drive off with your guide to Bunyonyi for relaxation on the lake. Optional canoeing and ziplining or have a community tour to learn about the daily life of the indigenous people. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge.

After an early breakfast on this day, you will head out for a canoe ride to explore the beautiful Islands at this fresh waterbody. Enjoy meeting local people on the Islands in their gardens and others crossing the lake on boat. Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. Launch a community tour to interact with the people around the area, visit iron smelting points and take part. Or enjoy ziplining that whole afternoon before retiring at the lodge for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, you will set off for Kampala with a stopover at Igongo cultural center for lunch and catch up with the Ankole culture. Proceed to Kampala arriving in the evening for your late evening flight.

What to To Think About On This Tour

Gorilla & Chimpanzee tracking is subject to the availability of permits, which are limited to 8 per gorilla group per day and 6 per chimpanzee track per ½ day.

Any Gorilla and Chimpanzee permits required need to be paid for upfront when booking. As soon as funds clear in our account, we will go ahead and purchase.  

Gorilla and Chimpanzee permits are always 100% non-transferable and non-refundable

The RATES are subject to change and are based on Availability with effect from July upon release of the new tariffs from Uganda Wildlife Authority and Rwanda Development Board.

On flights and land-based tours within East Africa, each passenger is limited to a maximum baggage weight of 33 pounds (15 kilograms). This includes the weight of purses and camera equipment in addition to regular luggage. Luggage restrictions are adhered to very strictly and passengers should pack their bags accordingly. Soft-sided luggage or duffels are preferable to hard luggage for storage on safari vehicles and also on aircraft used throughout East Africa. Dimensions should not exceed 23 inches (58 centimetres) long x 13 inches (33 centimetres) high x 10 inches (25 centimetres) wide.
