Be part of this guided 8-day Rwanda gorillas & wildlife safari with Gentle Giants Safaris. The 8-day safari offers you an opportunity to trek the endangered primates and explore wildlife in the Land of a Thousand Hills on this lifetime experience.  You will visit all the top National parks in Rwanda which are Volcanoes National Park, Nyungwe Forest National Park, and Akagera National Park. You will engage in different travel experiences both relaxed and adventurous. Engage in the adventure mountain gorilla trekking in Volcanoes Park, Chimpanzee trekking /Canopy walk in Nyungwe Forest and game viewing in Akagera National Park.

Talking about gorillas, the endangered primates are the prime attractions in Volcanoes National Park which attracts a high number of travelers to Rwanda. Located in North Western Rwanda, Volcanoes Park shelters over 450 mountain gorillas that live in 10 habituated gorilla families. Each gorilla permit in Rwanda costs $1500 and 80 gorilla permits are issued each day.  Volcanoes Park also shelters the endangered golden monkeys and over 200 bird species.

For chimpanzees, you will see them in the rain forest of Nyungwe Forest National Park which also shelters a variety of colobus monkeys. The Park is also the center of the adventurous canopy walk which offer magical aerial views of the forest and attractions in the neighboring countries

Visit Akagera National Park, the only savannah park located in Eastern Rwanda. Enjoy guided game drives to see the Big Five game and other savannah animals that live there. The 8-day safari starts and ends in Kigali city.

What to To Think About On This Tour

Gorilla & Chimpanzee tracking is subject to the availability of permits, which are limited to 8 per gorilla group per day and 6 per chimpanzee track per ½ day.

Any Gorilla and Chimpanzee permits required need to be paid for upfront when booking. As soon as funds clear in our account, we will go ahead and purchase.  

Gorilla and Chimpanzee permits are always 100% non-transferable and non-refundable

The RATES are subject to change and are based on Availability with effect from July upon release of the new tariffs from Uganda Wildlife Authority and Rwanda Development Board.

On flights and land-based tours within East Africa, each passenger is limited to a maximum baggage weight of 33 pounds (15 kilograms). This includes the weight of purses and camera equipment in addition to regular luggage. Luggage restrictions are adhered to very strictly and passengers should pack their bags accordingly. Soft-sided luggage or duffels are preferable to hard luggage for storage on safari vehicles and also on aircraft used throughout East Africa. Dimensions should not exceed 23 inches (58 centimetres) long x 13 inches (33 centimetres) high x 10 inches (25 centimetres) wide.
