The driver guide will then transfer you to your hotel in Kigali for refreshments, dinner, and overnight.
After a relaxed morning breakfast at your hotel, the driver guide from Outdoor Trekkers will pick you up for a transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Have a brief tour of Kigali city to visit Kigali Genocide memorial site, Kimironko Market, and an optional visit to the Presidential palace and shopping malls in case you want to buy a few things. You will then drive southwestwards headed to Nyungwe Forest National Park, home to the endangered chimpanzees and colobus monkeys. You will have lunch en route and several stopovers for scenic viewing, refreshments, and photography. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Have a morning cup of coffee, and drive to the headquarters of Nyungwe Forest National Park to be briefed on the guidelines of chimpanzee trekking. You will then venture into the forest in search of the endangered chimpanzees. Nyungwe Forest is also home to several colobus monkeys you will encounter during your chimpanzee trekking adventure. The allowed time with chimpanzees is strictly an hour counted from the moment you set your eyes on them. You will be amazed by the human-like behaviors of chimpanzees which make them our sloe relatives. In the afternoon, go for a canopy walk offering you magical Aerial views of the whole of Rwanda and the neighboring countries. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
After a relaxed morning breakfast, check out and start the drive headed to Volcanoes National Park located in Northwestern Rwanda. Enjoy the scenic drive passing by Lake kivu traversing the rolling hills of Rwanda, local communities, tea and banana plantations. The drive time between the two parks is roughly 6 hours. Arrive in the afternoon for a late lunch at your lodge. In the evening, go for a cultural tour of the Iby’iwacu Cultural Village (gorilla Guardia Village) to learn about Rwanda’s traditions, customs, and norms. Traditional dances and songs are performed to tell you more about the uniqueness of Rwanda. Take part in some practices such as dressing as Queen/King, preparing local foods, grinding millet, and peeling matoke among others. You will then return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
The long-awaited day to see gorillas is finally here! Have an early morning breakfast, get your packed lunch, and drive to Kinigi headquarters of Volcanoes National Park where registration, pre-gorilla trekking briefing, and family allocation take place. You will be allocated one of the 10 gorilla families in Volcanoes National Park. At 8:00 am start the adventure hiking into the Jungle forests searching for the endangered gorillas. Hiking time is not certain and can last for between 2-6 hours. Spend an hour in the company of the endangered gorillas and see how different gorillas perform different roles in their family, The silverback gorilla is the head and overseer of the entire family, adult females take care of infants while juveniles keep the family lively and entertained Keep a distance of 7 meters away from the gorillas hold your camera tight and take as many memorable photos as possible. You will then hike back and embark on a drive to Kigali city for dinner and overnight.
Early today, have breakfast at your hotel and then drive eastwards to Akagera National park, the only Savannah Park in Rwanda. Go for a full-day game drive in the open plains of the park offering you the chance to see a variety of wild animals hunting, browsing, and grazing. Expect to see animals such as elephants.
