Detailed Itinerary
ARRIVAL AND TRANSFER TO THE HOTEL

Meet our driver/guide at the airport upon arrival in Entebbe. Have a brief chat about your five-day primate tour, and then head to your lodge for a transfer to your hotel for an overnight stay. Depending on your time of arrival, explore Entebbe or visit the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre, also known as the Entebbe Zoo.

Lodge/Hotel:
Meal plan: Bed & Breakfast

After breakfast at the lodge, start your journey transferring to Kibale National Park the home to over 13 primate species. Enjoy captivating scenic views of the landscapes on this countryside arriving in the evening hours. Check into your lodge and have lunch. Afternoon, head for an afternoon nature walk in the park to watch several primate species and medicinal plants. Return to your lodge, have dinner and overnight stay.

Lodge/Hotel:
Meal plan: Full Board

After breakfast, you will head to the park for briefing at the park headquarters together with other guests on the best practices for chimp tracking. You will soon head to the forest in search for habituated chimps. These happy apes are known to live in large groups of about 80 members with dominant males taking the lead. The long trek into the forest will soon reward you with an encounter with these apes and you will spend a full hour in their presence as you learn about their behaviour in their natural habitat. Return to the meet your guide/driver at the starting point and head to the lodge for your lunch. The afternoon will be spent at Bigodi wetland area for a guided nature walk and more encounter several primate and medicinal plant species. Retire later at the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Lodge/Hotel:
Meal plan: Full Board

After a tasty breakfast, depart for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park the home to over 20 habituated mountain Gorilla groups. Enjoy scenic views of the countryside as you drive through the villages and towns on the western side of Uganda. Soon/later arrive at the park, check in at the booked lodge for your relaxation, dinner and accommodation that night.

Lodge/Hotel:
Meal plan: Full Board

Breakfast will be served very early at the lodge to allow you to catchup with briefing at 7am. Your guide will then drive you to the briefing point to be briefed with other tourists. Spend a thrilling day tracking and observing the gentle mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Gorilla families are led by a dominant male often referred to as silverback. The trek can be challenging requiring some level of fitness for those involved in the tracking experience. Spend one full hour with them as you learn and observe their behaviour in their natural habitat. Return to the starting point later to meet your driver/guide and head to the lodge for lunch. Head out for a community visit to understand the lives of the local people. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast on this last day of your trip, you will start your journey returning to Entebbe. Enjoy scenic views of the rolling hills of the Kigezi area as you say good bye to the Gorilla land. You may have time to stop at the equator or other sites for more adventure and souvenirs. Proceed to Entebbe International Airport for your flight.

What to To Think About On This Tour

Gorilla & Chimpanzee tracking is subject to the availability of permits, which are limited to 8 per gorilla group per day and 6 per chimpanzee track per ½ day.

Any Gorilla and Chimpanzee permits required need to be paid for upfront when booking. As soon as funds clear in our account, we will go ahead and purchase.  

Gorilla and Chimpanzee permits are always 100% non-transferable and non-refundable

The RATES are subject to change and are based on Availability with effect from July upon release of the new tariffs from Uganda Wildlife Authority and Rwanda Development Board.

On flights and land-based tours within East Africa, each passenger is limited to a maximum baggage weight of 33 pounds (15 kilograms). This includes the weight of purses and camera equipment in addition to regular luggage. Luggage restrictions are adhered to very strictly and passengers should pack their bags accordingly. Soft-sided luggage or duffels are preferable to hard luggage for storage on safari vehicles and also on aircraft used throughout East Africa. Dimensions should not exceed 23 inches (58 centimetres) long x 13 inches (33 centimetres) high x 10 inches (25 centimetres) wide.
