Detailed Itinerary
ARRIVAL & TRANSFER TO HOTEL

This day is for your arrival and our professional driver who will also double as your guide will be waiting for you at Kigali International Airport. Greet and briefly share about your itinerary and immediately be on your way to your hotel and relax after the long journey. Optional activities here include a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial and a visit to the local markets.

After breakfast at the hotel in Kigali, drive to the northern side of Rwanda towards Volcanoes National Park enjoying scenic views of the rolling hills in the countryside. Arrive early and check in at your lodge. Engage in a visit to the Ibyiwacu Cultural Village to explore the traditional culture and performances. Spend the day there and later relax at the lodge, have dinner and overnight near Volcanoes National Park.

Early morning trek to see the mountain gorillas starts with briefing at the park offices with other tourists on the rules for tracking the mountain Gorillas. Spend the day trekking into the high mountains and when you meet them spend a full hour observing these magnificent creatures and taking pictures. Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. Optional; Explore nearby hiking trails or pay a visit to the Twin Lakes Burera and Ruhondo. Overnight and dinner at the lodge.

The morning trek to see golden monkeys also starts with a briefing by the park rangers. You will be briefed as a group of tourists and thereafter be led into the forest in search of the tiny golden monkeys. Spend time with them enjoying the rich biodiversity of the park.  In the afternoon, visit the Ibyiwacu Cultural village for a cultural experience. Meet and interact with local people to learn the traditions, norms, and customs of local Rwanda people.  Return for dinner and overnight at your lodge.

After an early breakfast at the lodge, cross over to Uganda through Gatuna border driving to Lake Bunyonyi. Enjoy scenic views along the way and soon or later arrive and relax at a lakeside lodge. Optional: Canoeing or swimming in the lake in the afternoon or relaxing by the lakeside. Overnight and dinner at Lake Bunyonyi.

Spend this whole day exploring Lake Bunyonyi, the second-deepest Lake in Africa. Enjoy a boat cruise to explore different islands of Lake Bunyonyi with scenic views of the rolling kigezi highlands. You can also take part in optional activities at and around Lake Bunyoyni such as zip-lining, mountain biking, and Batwa community tours among others

Breakfast will be served very early and then drive to the park briefing point to meet other tourists.  Start the trek to see the mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. This experience may take you a few hours or even a whole day depending on the movement of the Gorillas. Spend an hour observing the gorillas and taking memorable photos. Return to your lodge for lunch. And if time allows have an optional community walk or visit local craftspeople. Retire at the lodge at lake Bunyonyi for dinner and overnight.

Have a well-prepared breakfast at your lodge in Bwindi, check out, and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park early in the morning.  You will drive through different local communities and farms which make this experience more fun.  The drive through Ishasha sector south of Queen Elizabeth National Park is an opportunity to see tree-climbing lions which are not found anywhere else in the whole of Uganda.

Very early today, head out with your guide for a morning game drive to spot early risers including; lions, elephants, buffalo, waterbucks, duikers, kobs and more. Visit the Ishasha sector to look for tree-climbing lions as they rest on tree branches. Return to your lodge for lunch and refreshments. In the afternoon,  go for a boat cruise at Kazinga Channel a 40 kilometers river stream that connects Lake Edwards and Lake George.

Drive to Kibale National Park after breakfast, arrive, and have lunch at your lodge. Have a guided nature walk to spot several monkey species, birds, and nocturnal wildlife in the evening. Dinner and overnight at the lodge in the park.

Morning chimpanzee tracking in Kibale National Park starts with a morning briefing by the park rangers and then hit the jungle to find our cousin’s chimps. Spend time trekking into the forest until you meet the chimps and be allowed to spend a full hour in their presence. observing chimpanzees and other primates. Return to the lodge for lunch and visit the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for more primates, plant species and birdwatching. Overnight and dinner at the lodge in the park.

Enjoy your last moments in Kibale Forest National Park, and do an optional forest walk to enjoy the sweet melodies of birds singing up in the trees.  Have a relaxed breakfast, check out, and drive to Kampala. You will have stopovers along the way for photography and lunch. You can have an optional nightlife in Kampala if you wish. Retire at a lodge booked for you for overnight and dinner.

Have a relaxed breakfast, check out, and drive to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight

What to To Think About On This Tour

Gorilla & Chimpanzee tracking is subject to the availability of permits, which are limited to 8 per gorilla group per day and 6 per chimpanzee track per ½ day.

Any Gorilla and Chimpanzee permits required need to be paid for upfront when booking. As soon as funds clear in our account, we will go ahead and purchase.  

Gorilla and Chimpanzee permits are always 100% non-transferable and non-refundable

The RATES are subject to change and are based on Availability with effect from July upon release of the new tariffs from Uganda Wildlife Authority and Rwanda Development Board.

On flights and land-based tours within East Africa, each passenger is limited to a maximum baggage weight of 33 pounds (15 kilograms). This includes the weight of purses and camera equipment in addition to regular luggage. Luggage restrictions are adhered to very strictly and passengers should pack their bags accordingly. Soft-sided luggage or duffels are preferable to hard luggage for storage on safari vehicles and also on aircraft used throughout East Africa. Dimensions should not exceed 23 inches (58 centimetres) long x 13 inches (33 centimetres) high x 10 inches (25 centimetres) wide.
